When you use Touristy, we collect the following information:
Account Information: Your name, email address, and profile photo provided through Google Sign-In.
Location Data: Your device's GPS coordinates while you are actively on a walk. We use this to trigger audio narrations at points of interest and to track your walk progress.
Usage Data: Walk history, favorites, distance covered, and time spent on walks.
We use your information to:
Location data is only collected while you are actively using the walk feature. We do not track your location in the background. Location data is used solely to determine when you are near a point of interest and to calculate walk distance.
Touristy uses the following third-party services:
Google Sign-In: For account authentication. Google's privacy policy applies to the sign-in process.
Firebase: For secure authentication token management.
OpenStreetMap: For displaying walk routes and maps via Leaflet. OpenStreetMap's usage policy applies to map data.
Your data is stored securely on our servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS) and secure database practices for data at rest. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We retain your account data and walk history for as long as your account is active. If you do not use the app for 12 months, we may send a reminder email before archiving your data. Archived data is permanently deleted after an additional 6 months of inactivity.
You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at touristy2026@gmail.com. Upon receiving your request, we will delete your data within 30 days. This includes your profile information, walk history, favorites, and any other data associated with your account.

Touristy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
